Gunhild Waldemar, MD, DMSc, FEAN, is professor of clinical neurology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen, and coordinating professor of the Neuroscience Center at Rigshospitalet.
Her main research interests are clinical, epidemiological and intervention studies in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. After completing her board certification in clinical neurology and her Doctorate of Medicine degree in 1996, she established the first multidisciplinary memory clinic in Denmark. In 2007 she established the Danish Dementia Research Centre which offers nationwide educational and networking activities as well as research, funded by the Danish Ministry of Health. Prof. Waldemar serves on the executive committee of the European Alzheimer’s DiseaseConsortium (EADC), she is a member of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Panel of Alzheimer’s Disease International, and of the Expert Advisory Panel of Alzheimer Europe.
Since 2011 she has served on the board of directors of the Lundbeck Foundation, where she chairs the Grants and Prizes Committee. She was one of the leading forces in the establishment of the new European Academy of Neurology (EAN) in 2014, and since 2016 she has served on the board of the Biomedical Alliance in Europe (BioMed Alliance).
