Elizabeth (Libby) Macintyre started studying Medicine in 1975 from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne University, UK. After internal medical (FRCP) and clinical/laboratory hematology training at University College London (FRCPath and MD) she did her PhD at St. Louis Hospital, Paris, on pediatric T-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) (1987-89) and a Post-Doctoral period at Harvard, studying oncogenic/immunogenetic interactions in T-ALL (1990-1992). She was appointed assistant Professor in Diagnostic Hematology at Paris Descartes University in 1992, full professor in 1997, and Head of the Hematology Laboratory at Necker–Enfants Malades Hospital from 1999-2018.

She co-directs the INSERM.UMR1151 « Normal and Pathological Lymphoid Differentiation » Team in the Necker Enfants Malades Institute. Her research interests are immature T lymphoid leukemias and lymphomas and Minimal Residual Disease quantification. She has actively contributed to European concerted actions, is a European Hematology Association (EHA) Board member and has coordinated a French national Medico-Economic network which undertook to provide equal access to state-of-the-art diagnostics in Hematological Malignancies.
