Prof. Thomas Berger

Thomas Berger is Professor of Neurology and Chair of the Department of Neurology at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, a position he has held since 2018. After graduating in 1991 (and completing a postgraduate degree in Hospital Management and Health Economics in 2002), he began his academic career in 1992, maintaining a continuous scientific focus on neuroimmunology and its related disorders. Clinically, he is a strong advocate for general neurology.

His active involvement in European health organisations dates back to 2006. Since then, he has served as Chair of the e-Learning Committee of the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS), as member of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) Board and Chair of the Scientific Committee, as member of the ERC ADG Review Panel,  the EBRAINS Science & Technology Committee, as President of the Austrian Society of Neurology, as a Member of the Austrian Supreme Medical Council, in the European University Hospital Alliance, and as a Member of several national and international advisory boards.
