BioMed Alliance General Assembly 2026

The BioMed Alliance General Assembly (Autumn Meeting) will take place during 1-2 December 2026 at the BioMed Alliance office in Brussels (Rue de la Loi 34). The Autumn Meeting is an important annual event where members of the BioMed Alliance come together to discuss ongoing and future activities of the Alliance as well as decide on important governance matters. Please note, the General Assembly is only for members of the BioMed Alliance.

Programme information

1 December

13.00-14.00: Welcoming lunch

14.00-16.00: Session on challenges around patient involvement in congresses. The session will explore whether current regulations are sufficiently clear and how industry codes and rules may be used to interpret and navigate them. It will also examine the main barriers faced by congress organisers, highlight practical solutions that are already proving effective, and discuss the additional changes needed to create truly patient-centric congresses.

16.00-18.30: Governance session and update on BioMed Alliance's work. This session will provide an update on the Alliance’s activities and governance matters, including a vote on the 2027 budget and a vote to elect a new member to the Board.

18.30: Networking cocktail

2 December

09:00-12:00: Policy workshop

09:00-10:30: The first part of the policy workshop will focus on the state of play of the EU’s 10th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10), exploring its strategic role within the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). Particular attention will be given to the widely discussed structural, funding, and governance links between FP10 and the newly proposed European Competitiveness Fund (ECF), as well as the implications for the future of European research and innovation investment.

10:45-12:00: The second part of the session will examine emerging global challenges, including the implications of MFN-related policies and broader geopolitical and trade developments for the life sciences innovation ecosystem. Discussions will focus on their potential impact across the entire innovation cycle, from research and development to market access and patient benefit, and on how FP10 could serve as a strategic counterbalance to increasingly assertive U.S. industrial, trade, and tariff policies, helping to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, and technological sovereignty.

12.00-13:00: Networking lunch

13.00-15.00: Paediatric workshop. This session will bring members together to discuss key issues related to paediatric healthcare and identify opportunities for further collaboration.
