BioMed Alliance Spring Meeting 2026

BioMed Alliance Spring Meeting 2026 is just around the corner! This year’s event will be held online on 15-16 June. During two sessions divided over two days, we will explore the latest developments in healthcare and research policy, the future of the Alliance, and the evolving role of academic research in an era focused on innovation.

The sessions will feature speakers from diverse fields, including policymakers, healthcare professionals, and academic researchers. Among our confirmed speakers are Liselotte Højgaard (Professor in Medicine and Technology at the University of Copenhagen and ERC Scientific Council member), Nathalie Moll (Director General of EFPIA), Oliver Bisazza (CEO of MedTech Europe), Jens Petter Berg (Vice Rector for Life Science and Research at the University of Oslo), Richard Rosenquist Brandell (Professor of Clinical Genetics at Karolinska Institutet and Director of Genomic Medicine Sweden), and Sarah Kulahin Roed (Senior Scientific Manager at the Novo Nordisk Foundation).

Overview of the sessions

  • Monday 15 June 16.00-18.00: Sharing the expertise of healthcare professionals and researchers at EU level: Update on the BioMed Alliance Work
  • There have been a lot of new developments in the health and research policy fields, which affect the work of healthcare professionals and researchers in different ways. In this session, we will explore relevant legislative developments, look back at the impact of related BioMed Alliance activities, and discuss what is next with the chairs of our different Committees and Task Forces. We will also discuss governance matters (including a vote on the 2025 accounts, the upcoming election for a seat in the Board, and potential measures to address the anticipated 2027 budget gap).
  • Tuesday 16 June 9.30-12.30: Academic Research in an Era of Innovation: How should the EU keep up?
  • The shift in the EU’s political agenda, moving from a primary focus on European public health and health security to one centred on economic competitiveness (as highlighted in the 2024 Draghi and Letta reports), has important implications for the future of health research funding. In this session we will explore with guest speakers how translational research can evolve in a changing environment, and how it can help drive innovation and contribute to the EU life science sector.

These sessions will provide opportunities to engage with experts, share your views, and interact with your peers in a virtual environment.

Survey reminder: to help shape future BioMed Alliance activities and work, we kindly ask our members to complete this short survey: SurveyRock - BioMed Alliance Member Survey 2026. It takes approximately three minutes to complete.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Please note, the Spring Meeting is only for members of the BioMed Alliance.
